Smooth Jazz Trumpet Player Cindy Bradley of
New York City

Smooth Jazz Trumpet Player Cindy Bradley was born near Buffalo, New York in a suburb called North Tonawanda. Cindy Bradley began playing trumpet in the 4th grade school band program. Cindy began taking piano lessons when she was six years old and chose to stay with the trumpet through school. When Cindy was twelve years old, she joined a big band that was made up of all school kids. The big band played 1940's swing style music so Cindy's earliest influences included trumpet players like Harry James. As Cindy got older, she began listening to more straight ahead jazz musicians such as Lee Morgan, Blue Mitchell etc; however, also musicians such as Oscar Peterson whom really influenced Cindy. Cindy's mentor in her jazz studies as she matured as a trumpet player was John McNeil.

After earning a bachelor's degree in jazz studies from Ithaca College, Cindy went to the New England Conservatory of Music to study for her master's in jazz trumpet performance; at the conservatory, she studied with and was influenced by many jazz greats including John McNeil, Bob Brookmeyer, Jerry Bergonzi, George Russell and Steve Lacy. After earning her degrees, Cindy immediately headed to the New York City area and immersed herself in the vibrant jazz scene, discovering equal passions for straight ahead be-bop and contemporary jazz, as well as funk, Top 40, R&B and jazz fusion. The bands she was involved with played clubs as well as high profile events like the Emmy Awards and even the Super Bowl.

Cindy has extensive touring experience as a sideman. She has toured with Pieces of a Dream, played for the Super Bowl, Emmy Awards Parties, Winter Olympics, etc.). Cindy signed a recording contract with Trippin' N' Rhythm Records in 2009 and she is now touring with her own show. Cindy has also applied her skills and background in a way to inspire future generations. She has conducted hundreds of jazz workshops at high school and community colleges all over the country. "These workshops are a way of giving back to the community," she says. "It's inspiring just to see the influence a few encouraging words can have on young people who really want to develop their passion for music. It’s amazing to realize that a lot of the younger kids I teach have never seen anyone play a live wind instrument before their eyes!"

Cindy states that her trumpet teachers have taught her a lot more than how to be a good trumpet player. Says Cindy, "Getting by in the professional music world is not always easy (from making enough money, to just dealing with all different types of people) and I was lucky enough to have great teachers that were also really awesome people." Says Cindy, "It took me a some time to find my voice as a solo artist on trumpet and flugelhorn, but it's been an exciting learning process and I have had so much fun along the way meeting so many great people and being able to play for audiences who love all styles of music." Cindy has given trumpet clinics all over the world and offers private trumpet lessons to the right students when her schedule permits. Cindy performs on Harrelson Custom Nouveau Trumpets; a Yamaha Bobby Shew Model Flugelhorn and she uses Al Cass Valve Oil for her instruments. Says Cindy, "the Harrelson Trumpet has the most beautiful sound and really delivers in any playing situation."

SMOOTH JAZZ TRUMPET PLAYER CINDY BRADLEY

Smooth Jazz Trumpet Player Cindy Bradley's label debut, entitled "Bloom," draws upon all aspects of her musicianship. In the making of this album, Cindy had the privilege of writing with and being produced by Grammy award winning producer Michael Broening (George Benson). The tracks boast of some of the industry's funkiest and most gifted sidemen and soloists including bassists Mel Brown and Mario Mendivil, drummers Tony Morra, John Herrera and Mike White, guitarists Freddie Fox, Thano Sahnas, and Jay Soto, saxophonist Dominic Amato, and producer Michael Broening. Cindy is also joined on the album by Trippin' N' Rhythm label mate Tim Bowman on guitar. "Bloom" is a rich and vibrant showcase of everything that is Cindy Bradley - passion, optimism and a rich command and feel for her instrument. From smooth and sultry flugelhorn tracks like "Before I Go", the ultra funky set "Brooklyn Bounce," to the irresistibly soulful title track, "Bloom" is self fulfilling in that Cindy, after much effort and desire, is finally ready to establish her place among the new guard in smooth jazz.

Says label VP Jeff Lunt ... "I honestly can't recall a time in my 26 plus years in the business that I have been this excited about a new artist. Cindy's openness, honesty and the sheer volume of talent that she brings to the table is absolutely infectious and refreshing and should do well to launch her into the smooth jazz stratosphere. She is an absolute one of a kind and this record combined with the brilliant touch of the great Michael Broening will set smooth jazz right on it's collective ear." Given her good seed stock, the fertile soil (Trippin N Rhythm), and the careful nurturing (Michael Broening), Cindy's time has come and she is ready to "Bloom" as one of smooth jazz's brightest new stars. Not Just another pretty face ... this girl is for real!! Cindy continues to mature into a very fine smooth jazz artist and a trumpet player all of us can be very proud of! YOU go GIRL !!
